BLACK MIRROR: JOAN IS AWFUL

Chapter 10: Work and Wealth

Written by Ryan Nguyen

Automation is an important topic in the domain of employment. The use of automation can increase productivity and reduce costs however it does so at the cost of employees. Automation has often been blamed for the loss of jobs [1]. In Black Mirror: Joan is Awful, the production of Streamberry’s content has been automated. A quantum computer utilizing generative AI replaced the writers at Streamberry to create content.

This system was chosen over traditional writers due to its ability to generate personalized content for each user at a faster rate. Unlike writers who have to take time to research ideas, craft a plot and write out scripts, computerized automation streamlines the process by utilizing data and algorithms to create the perfectly tailored. Since computerized automated systems offer scalability, it allows easy adaptability to cater content to a diverse range of users, one of Streamberry’s goals with their automated system[2].

Overall, the efficiency, scalability, and personalized nature of computerized automation make it a compelling choice for generating content tailored to individual users, offering a solution that addresses the growing demand for personalized experiences.
